Selling engagement ring- How to get the most money back?
I purchased an engagement ring around 6 months ago from a respectable jeweler. My fiancee and I are no longer together and I have no use for the ring and would like to sell it. I know that getting back what I paid for the ring is virtually impossible, but I’d like to get the most amount of money back as possible.
Would I have better luck taking it back to the jeweler I purchased it from? Or selling it online? Or a pawn shop? It is 14k white gold, .5 carat colorless diamond, & 8 accent diamond stones (I forget what grade they are but they equal about .5carats)
Do you think if I have the ring taken apart and I sell the solitaire by itself that I would get more money back?

I forgot to mention that I do have all the original paperwork including the authenticity form for the solitaire.
You should definitely get the papers/certificate for the diamond(s) to get the most amount of money for it. People won’t pay near “full” price if they don’t have a guarantee of what they are buying.
Because it’s only 6 months old you could try to return it the the store you bought it from and see if you could exchange it for another piece of jewelry. But there is so little resale value for “used” diamonds, most jewelry stores won’t give you even the wholesale value of it (mark-ups tend to run 80-100% on diamond rings).
Bring it back to the store and see what they will give you go it and then list it online for a price somewhere between the price you are given there and 70% of the price you paid for it.
