Where can I buy Blue Sparkle Chinchilla Dust?
Do stores carry Blue Sparkle Chinchilla Dust? Like a feed store? I know you can order online from breeders, but I am looking for local to save shipping costs. I live in Missouri.
There are quite a few people who are using Sweet PDZ now, including people who have had chins for many years. Blue cloud is almost impossible to get from the source unless you live in California, and by the time it gets to you, you end up paying double and sometimes quadruple what the original person paid. There is also rumor that the blue cloud is coming to an end. There is only one place you can get it, and word is out that that source is running dry. Because of that, people are trying to find other alternatives to it and one of them is Sweet PDZ.
It’s much less dusty than blue cloud, making it easier for the humans who have to handle it, especially among asthmatics. They seem to have a lot less trouble with it than the blue cloud.
Is it as good as blue cloud? No, it isn’t. But it does a pretty nice job and it doesn’t leave sparkles everywhere like the lesser “approved” dust does. You can also buy it locally in most places and you don’t have to pay huge amounts to the person who buys it, marks it up, and sells it to you, nor do you have to drive 16 hours to get it at a show or a breeders home.

Either way you go, yes, hands down blue cloud is the best, but it only stands to reason that with the chinchilla growing in popularity, showing becoming much more popular, and having only once good source of dust – at some point, things are going to run short. Hopefully the blue cloud will be available for a good long time yet, but it’s good to have a back up.
