How to tell the bride you can not afford to be a bridesmaid?
When my cousin first got engagement she asked me to be a part of her wedding day. Of course I said yes! A few months later I found out I was pregnant and due a month before her wedding. After going over finances with my husband, I do not think I am going to be able to afford to be a bridesmaid. I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but at the same time I want her to understand where I am coming from. Any ideas on how to break the news?
Just explain to her your financial situation. You agreed to be a part of her wedding before you found out you were pregnant. Your circumstances changed so she should be understanding and accepting of that. Tell her that you are going to have a family of your own soon and you need to put their priorities first in this situation. She should be able to understand your position and should be supporting of that… after all, it is smart to put finances in order when having a child!
