When looking for a plain wedding ring, profile is one of the most important choices. The profile is the shape of the cross section of the band. Although the Court band, in which both sides of the ring are curved, is the most traditional profile for a wedding ring, the Flat Court profile is rising in popularity. This style still has the sophistication of a simple plain band but, at the same time, a Flat Court ring also adds a slightly modern twist, with its more angular appearance.
While it might be tempting to stick with tradition and choose a simple Court ring, it is important that you find the perfect ring for you, so make sure when you choose your ring that you examine all the options carefully.
A Flat Court ring still has the comfort of the rounded inside, like the Court band, but the flat outside surface gives this style of ring a distinctive and stylish appearance. If you want something a little different from the norm, but do not want to stray too far from the classic wedding ring, a Flat Court band might be for you.
If you are worried about not being able to find this style in the same range of sizes and colours as a typical Court ring, then you do not have to. The Flat Court profile can be found on small, light ladies’ wedding rings, right down to 2mm width rings, and on heavier men’s wedding rings up to 8mm in width, just like a Court profile ring. The style can also be found in heavy, medium and light weights in all sizes, so your choice of sizes is not limited at all and you can easily get a matching pair.
Flat Court rings are also available in a range of metals, the popular and more expensive platinum as well as yellow and white gold. Rose gold, as it often is, can be more difficult to find, but that is the same as with Court wedding rings.
Do not worry that these are only profiles available for rings, though. If neither the classic Court ring nor the more modern Flat Court is for you, then you can take a look at what else is available. You could get a D-shape profile ring, which is essentially the opposite of the Flat Court. This means that rather than having the curved side of the Court profile on the outside, this curve is on the outside of the band, while the flat side is internal. On the other hand, there is also the choice of a Soft Court ring, which is similar to a Court profile ring, except the sides are not as curved and, instead of tapering to a point, there is more width to the edges of this band.
