Can I get hair samples?
You should be able to request free hair samples before purchasing any clip-in hair extensions. If the merchant does not provide that, you may want to purchase from a merchant who will. You should also be able to send in your natural hair sample for a custom match.
Is It Real Hair? Synthetic, human, and animal (yak: a kinky haired ox) hair is used for hair extensions, wigs, hairpieces and weaves. I won’t discuss synthetic hair because I only use 100% human hair, however I will touch on organic hair such as animal hair which most often is the ox called a Yak, just to define it and the term “Yaki”. Caution: Some commercial human hair is manufactured with poor quality processing and substandard hair from the grower. Just because the label says Human Hair does not mean “good quality” human hair.
The ethnicities used most often for human hair extensions are Chinese, Asian-Indian (from India), Mediterranean, Indonesian, Spanish, Italian and European-Caucasian hair (mostly from Russia, Poland and Turkey). All of these hair types have their own characteristics and are used to achieve certain densities and textures distinct from each other. The most popular hair is Chinese due to its plentiful supply, affordability, and strength. Chinese hair can withstand the various and harsh chemicals used to create the many textures that are available to us for adding length, color, fullness and texture to our natural hair. The most expensive hair is European-Caucasian due to its silky soft feel and appearance. The most desirable hair is Asian-Indian (from India) due to its similar appearance to European-Caucasian hair but unlike European-Caucasian, Indian hair has more body and holds a much better curl and is not as fine and limp as European-Caucasian hair.
What is meant by Cuticle hair? This is hair that still has its cuticle layer in tact. The cuticle layer on the hair shaft resembles shingles on a roof that layer on top of each other and must ALL lie in the same direction after being gathered by the grower in order to avoid tangling. I stress “ALL” because if even a few single strands are applied upside-down or in the wrong direction when getting hair extensions or weaves, the overall group of strands will become a tangled nightmare and cannot be salvaged! Some of you know what I mean because unfortunately, you have experienced this horror after spending hundreds of dollars on your commercial hair! (YIKES!)
Most commercial hair has had the cuticle layer chemically removed to eliminate tangling and to mix batches of hair from several growers.
BUYER BEWARE! Some unscrupulous marketers often use the term “Cuticle hair” as a deceptive “Buzz” word to trick you into buying their product.
What is meant by Virgin Hair? Virgin hair is human “Raw” hair (in its original state) that has never been chemically processed, i.e. colored, permed, or stripped. BUYER BEWARE! Some unscrupulous marketers often use the term “Virgin hair” as a deceptive “Buzz” word to trick you into buying their product.
The terms “Cuticle hair” and “Virgin hair” are sometimes used interchangeably, but should not because they mean two different things. “Cuticle hair” can be processed or unprocessed (virgin) hair. “Virgin hair” is never processed.
So to answer the question “Is it real hair?” You want to make sure the answer is YES! before making your purchase if it is human hair you desire. For long term use, Clip-in Hair Extensions and Hair Weaves that are made from 100% High, Premium and Supreme quality hair is best.
Why does the cost vary so much?
Not all human hair is processed the same. Some of it is so over processed chemically that it is damaged before ever applying to the head and therefore will not even withstand its first shampoo! It is imperative that the best quality hair be used if you want natural looking and behaving hair extensions. It is worth it to spend more money on the quality of hair if you plan to wear your hair extensions long term or even just more than once. If you don’t want to spend the money necessary for the best hair, I say don’t bother to spend money on extensions installations–it’s a waste of time and dollars! Manufacturers with high standards are producing beautiful, shiny, strong, tangle-free commercial hair that make wearing hair extensions so much fun and ohhh sooo worth it!
How long are Clip-in Hair Extensions? Clip-in hair extensions for Caucasian hair are typically 16-20″ long (past the bra strap) and clip-in extensions for African-American hair are typically 10-16″ long (about to the bra strap). To order longer or shorter lengths, you should be able to request a Custom Order with your hair extensions provider.

How to put in clip in extensions for fine hair?
I recently bought clip n hair extensions. It came with a 10in, two 7in wefts, two 5in wefts and two 3in wefts. Now I have super fine hair and I am trying but the clips are still showing through and creating dents in my hair. Now since I have thin hair is it necessary to put in every piece?? Any tips on how to put them in?
like what size pieces should i put where if i have thin hair so it looks blended?
you don’t have to use every piece. try pulling up alot of hair, like until you get to the scalp, clip it in, and then use all the hair you pulled up to cover it. maybe you could tease your hair alittle bit it adds more volume so it could be easier to cover the dents.
