Is the Megabus to NY going to get me to SOHO?
I am from Baltimore. I have taken Hunt Valley Motor Coach to NY many times but it drops us off in an area with no good shopping. Its like flea market stuff and cheap clothes. I want to get to the Soho area where Century 21 is located for some real clothes and shoes shopping. I don’t know the NY area very well. The megabus drops off at 31st St near Penn Station or 7th Ave & 28th St. Are these stops near Soho or any good shopping areas? Also are these two stop near each other because departing drops off at one and returning picks up at the other or vice versa.The website is megabus.com. Thanks
Both of the stops listed are not really located near Soho or Century 21 which is in the downtown Financial District. Two of the better choices I can think for you are to either buy a ticket for one of the sightseeing buses; Grayline buses have a stop right on Broadway at Prince St. (which is Soho), then after you are finished in that area, get back on the one of the Grayline buses and continue down Broadway until Dey St. (which is where Century 21 is located). When you are finished you can take the tour bus back uptown to your departure sight.
Or you can go to the corner of 33rd and 7th Ave. when you arrive. Go down into the subway for the 2/3 line (the red circles). Purchase a ‘funpass’ from the Metrocard vending machines. They are $7 and work for 24 hours on all subways and local buses.Take the 2 or the 3 train downtown to the Park Place stop and walk 4 blocks to Dey St along Church street to get to Century 21. When you are finished there you can walk out of Century 21 up one block to Broadway to catch the 4 or 5 train (the green circles) to Canal Street. From there you can do some shopping on Canal Street and walk your way up a few short blocks to Soho. Once you get to Broome you can start to walk through the streets on the west side of Broadway and WHAM! you’re in Soho.
