It’s common knowledge, unless you’re living in a vacuum and have opted out of reality, that the Internet, good or bad, has revolutionized business, the way we conduct business and the way we live our lives on a day-to-day basis. For some of us, those 40 plus, it has had a profound effect on the way we envisioned our futures. It seems that we are just learning about the newest trends and technologies that pop up almost daily, only to find once we look into it, that its relatively old news.
Of course, with this comes concerns and doubts as we begin to understand and eventually accept, sometimes grudgingly, the way our world is changing. It seems that life was simpler years ago, yet we embrace the advances, be it with reluctant suspicion initially, to immerse ourselves and the way we do things cognizant and wary of security and our personal information falling into the wrong hands. Our growing acceptance of the internet as the way to buy everything from vehicles to jewelery and medication has resulted in online sales of over $156 Billion in 2009, with projections to increase by 14% in 2010.
Trading stocks, purchasing real estate, banking, currency trading, all normal day-to-day business activities for millions of people across the globe. Trading and investing in commodities is fast becoming an accepted practice and a market that is opening up to just about anyone that has an interest, Gone are the days when only a select few had the opportunities to invest in and make money in the commodities markets. Precious metals, ores, food crops, oil, energy, fish, are all commodities being offered as investment vehicles to the participating public. New investors are signing up daily, seeking a controlled and mostly passive income online.
While there are a myriad brokerages all offering different platforms for the novice investor, education and guidance has become a critical component for most brokerages and one should be hesitant if this is not the case with a brokerage or online trading company offering commodity investing opportunities.
An option to consider and one growing in popularity is investing in pre sold physical commodities contracts, otherwise known as buy/sell contracts. Although the term is seldom heard, the practice has been around for centuries but never offered to the public, being the realm of the wealthy and well-connected, it is now an available investment opportunity to both novice and seasoned investors. Pre sold physical commodities contracts are fundamentally contracts that have been negotiated and finalized by both the buyer and seller.
A basic comparative example would be a group of ten investors pooling resources with the intention to purchase a specific real estate asset at a set price of say $1,000,000, prior to going to contract, the real estate asset is marketed and a buyer is found at a sale price of $1,200,000. Once the buyer is secured, the group initiates their purchase knowing exactly what their returns are going to be, when the actual deal will close and when they will be paid. It’s that simple.
Look for a company that offers “preferred returns”, in other words, a projected return on investment (ROI). The offer should be tied to a specific commodities contract with a buyer and seller secured. This information may not be released as it would be proprietary to the company acting as the wholesaler, but records of completed contracts should be recorded, filed and registered with state and federal authorities.
This platform alleviates the risk and speculation rife in futures trading. There is no price speculation as the contracts are secured and the wholesaling company would undoubtedly insure the transaction. An investors profits are secure, knowing when and how much they will earn with certainty. Novice investors may confidently participate as there is no learning curve, no analysis to be made, no charts to read and evidently, no sleepless nights.
Pre sold physical commodities wholesalers that allow investor participation do not usually charge commissions or fees. A subscription to the service is the only out-of-pocket expense an investor should have. Participation in buy/sell contracts allows individual investors the opportunity to earn very lucrative risk adjusted returns without having to commit to the large amounts of capital usually involved. More and more investors are seeking a safe and secure haven for their capital, wanting independence, control and liquidity, substantially mitigated risk, low speculation and simplicity of use.
The commodity markets are exciting platforms to invest in, with 2011 looking ever the more favourable for physical commodities. Investors should seriously consider this opportunity for diversity in their portfolios and novice investors interested in the commodities markets will be well rewarded for their participation. Expect ROI of between 5% and 33% per contract period, which would be in the 27 to 100 day time range. The time period is reflective of the date of contract from the supplier/producer to the actual delivery date to the buyer depending on the locations of the parties and the commodity itself. Perishable commodities would obviously be in the shorter time frame whereas ores and metals would take a little longer, no matter, once an investment is made it’s just a matter of waiting for the deal to close, just like a real estate transaction and the investor gets paid.
These acquisitions are not derivatives, FOREX trades or commodities traded on the Chicago Mercantile exchange or the New York Stock Exchange, nor MLM, and the wholesaler would not represent itself as a brokerage or trader.
It’s as simple as that and quite boring actually, but an option growing in popularity and one that will soon be all in a days business for online investors.
