Heroes are those who in tough circumstances rise to the challenge, dig deep and come through. Heroes are made from how they choose to react to the circumstances that they find themselves in. When we have children, they often challenge us, sometimes to the brink of despair! Yet through the challenges our kids bring, we are given the chance to become heroes in our own right.
Do parents start out ready for the job, or do they become great parents? Both questions have the same answer. Much like the creation of a diamond, the pressure of parenting is designed to make heroes of all of us who find the internal resources to step up to the challenge.
Many times parents are inspired to heroism by other’s examples. If you’ve seen the video about Dick Hoyt and his son Rick, you have a vivid image of how a normal parent became a hero because of rising to the challenge of parenting his son.
The Hoyt’s amazing story hinges on two different decisions:
1. Dick and his wife’s decision to keep their son at home instead of following the recommendation to put him in an institution.
2. Rick’s decision to do something to help another physically challenged teen.
Both of these decisions lead to father (and son) having a life that is dramatically richer, fuller and yet paradoxically harder than he would have dreamed of living. When we are willing to put our needs aside to do the best for our kids, we often serve our highest good as well. Dick Hoyt has become a better man because of parenting his son, and a happier, more fulfilled man as well.
How does parenting challenge you? In what ways are you a better person because you are a parent? It is important to reflect on the gifts that our children bring to us. As well, it is important to look and see what other gifts lie waiting for us behind the latest parenting challenge. For you it may be the gift of fitness as you learn to be a role models for your kids and find time to be active together. Below are some examples of how mundane activities can teach us a lot about ourselves by how we respond.
o When you have to get up for the 5th time that night, knowing that you have to work in the morning.
o Your daughter has an emotional melt-down about an incident at school when you are ready to have your own.
o When you feel exhausted and your child spills juice all over when you finally have a moment to sit down.
o Your teen has too much time to just hang out, so you push yourself to participate in a sport, game or hobby when you’d rather veg.
If we meet our kids’ needs, we too can become heroes.

Who/where do you report a person that purposely default on his/her own credit card and ran to another country?
There is a person that borrowed a lot of money from his/her own credit card and purposely default the credit card company and ran to another country and left the debt in the USA!
That person is living wealthy in that country, thanks to the USA credit card company.
I got information that person does come back to the USA now and then. I like to report that person, but don’t know who or where to report it. Does anyone know the answer to put that person to justice?
