How important is a wedding dance?
We are planning a sit-down dinner reception for about 150 people with a social hour and a half before (for drinks, mingling). We did not want to have a dance after dinner because neither of us dance and we have been to other weddings where either no one dances and that’s awkward, or the dance gets way out of hand because of drunkenness. We were just going to have some music recorded and let people dance if they wanted to. But people are pressuring us to have a DJ dance. How important is having a dance?
my husband and i do not dance. we wanted to have lots of people come to our reception (like 100) and have them seat comfortably. so we spread the tables out and had NO DANCING! we had background music and just had a great time. 
later people were like i am so glad you did not dance and do all those corny wedding songs (omg i hate the chicken dance). when i go to weddings, there are never many people dancing, mainly just the bridesmaids. so it was not missed at my wedding.
if you are going to have a dance area and music, that sounds fine to me. do not let people pressure you into shelling out cash for something you do not want.
the dance should be important to you two as a couple and if it’s forced, that does not sound like fun to me.
