What can I wear to a 2 pm wedding if the reception is in the evening?
I have a black silk cocktail dress…would that be appropriate? I’m thinking it would be too much for the ceremony, but just right for the reception. It’s a catholic wedding, so I’m assuming it will be long, and the reception is about a 45 min drive away. So by the time the wedding is over and we get to the reception, it will be dinner time. So do I dress for an afternoon wedding or an evening wedding?
If it matters…the groomsmen are wearing tuxes and the reception is at a VERY nice country club.
The rule is if the reception is before 5, then no black. After 5 , then it’s fine. But very few people follow this rule. I would brighten up the dress with a bright colored shawl or shoes, or other accessories. Just don’t look like you are in morning 
Also you could drape a large scarf around you for the ceremony. Just try to add some color and lightness back into your outfit.
